Emporiatric Medicine and Travelers' Wellness Center

Please call 212-737-1212 for a same day appointment.

The Emporiatric Medicine and Travelers' Wellness Center provides complete care for the international traveler. Established over a decade ago as one of the first full service international travel health centers in New York City, the center is an official Yellow Fever Vaccination site and is certified to endorse the World Health Organization International Certificate of Vaccination. We provide accurate health information from the most up-to-date travel medicine sources, including the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Destination-specific pre-travel consultations are customized to the needs of our patients. During the approximately 1-hour pre-travel consultation and physical examination, patients learn all potential risks of their trip and are given specific instructions for contacting us if they become ill while abroad. Pre-travel consultations also include immunity screening and prophylactic antibiotic, anti-diarrheal, altitude illness and anti-malaria prescriptions. All routine, required, and recommended vaccinations are available. These include vaccinations against yellow fever, rabies, meningitis, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis A/B combined vaccine, polio, diphtheria/tetanus, oral typhoid, typhoid injection, Japanese encephalitis, influenza, pneumonia, measles, mumps, rubella, Gardasil and varicella (chickenpox). The risks and benefits of medications and vaccinations are discussed, and the patient's questions are answered. Travel insurance and security issuesare discussed in detail. All patients receive customized trip itineraries containing destination-specific health information. Services are also available for completion of visa requirement forms for international travel.

We provide comprehensive consultations during and after a patient's trip. If a patient becomes ill while abroad, we coordinate medical care with our extensive network of top international physicians. Consultations via e-mail, video teleconferencing, and still digital imaging are available for established patients. Post-travel consultations and treatments are available to patients who require medical care after returning to New York City from their trip.

Additionally, we offer tropical and travel medicine consultations to foreign nationals needing assistance or treatments not available in their home country.

Due to the overwhelming demand for our services, we can no longer reply to e-mails for vaccination prices and information. Further information about our comprehensive services can be obtained from our staff by calling (212) 737-1212. Serious inquiries about making appointments for consultation and vaccinations will be answered promptly. Callers requesting vaccine prices and individual or group consultation fees will be contacted by a staff member at their earliest convenience. As our physicians are busy attending to patients, they cannot respond directly to non established patient callers for any queries regarding their trip. Appointments for travelers can be accomodated at short notice as we are aware many travelers may need to leave on their trips without much warning. All appointments must be confirmed with a credit card. A cancellation fee for cancellations less than 24 hours in advance or patients not showing for their scheduled appointments will be applied.
